A Memorable Life For 4 Of Us Chapter 2 - First Clinic Day (English)

The next morning, Evelyn is preparing breakfast while the others are just waking up.

Paul:
— Good morning, Evelyn. Looks like you're up early today. You've already prepared breakfast.

Evelyn:
 — Yes, I wanted to get up a little early this morning while you were still asleep and surprise you with breakfast.

At that moment, Taylor comes out of the bathroom and enters the living room.
— Good morning, everyone, Taylor greets their friends.

Evelyn and Paul:
— Good morning, Taylor.

Little kitty (inner voice):
— Good morning, Taylor!

At the same time as Erin and Paul, a soft "Mrraw!" sound comes, as if saying "Good morning." This sound is none other than little kitty. Everyone looks at the little kitty.

Evelyn laughs:
— It seems the little kitty is awake too.

Upon hearing this, Taylor and Paul also laugh.

Evelyn:
— Breakfast is almost ready. Well, since the little ball of fluff is awake, let's go to the table!

Evelyn puts the small pieces of salami and sausage she has cut into a shallow bowl. Everyone sits down at the table and eats, while the cat leans her head over the bowl, sniffs the contents, then licks and eats the pieces of salami and sausage.

After breakfast, they tidy up the kitchen, then our heroes get dressed to go out and gather in the living room. As they discussed at the table, they will go to the vet. Evelyn:

— If everyone’s ready, let’s go.

Everyone was in the living room, of course they were ready. After Evelyn said that, they left the house. Thus, the little cat’s first vet adventure began.

They had already arrived at the vet clinic, and the following conversation took place among them:

Evelyn:
— So, is this the vet clinic you were talking about?

Taylor:
— Yes.

Meowing sounds rise from inside the clinic, which they couldn't hear before.

Evelyn:
— Why are there cat sounds coming from inside?

Taylor:
— Oh, I forgot to mention.
This is... pushes the door open and entering the clinic which is "filled with cats"!

*cat sounds*

Evelyn and Paul follow Taylor into the clinic.
(This is a large but not very spacious room, and on the left side of the room there is a door that leads to the examination room.)

— I think I understand why we're here, says Evelyn, sounding a little confident.

Paul looks around and sees the door to the examination room when he turns his head to the left.
— There's a door over there, the examination room must be inside. Let's go in.

They come to the door of the examination room. Evelyn to Taylor, who is busy with the cats:
— Taylor, are you coming?

Taylor:
— No, I think I'll stay here with the cats.

Evelyn:
— Okay, well, Paul, what about you?

Paul:
— Hm...

Just then, a black-and-white cat appears next to Paul's right leg with a cat toy in its mouth, as if it wants to play with him. Paul sees the cat and looks at it for a moment, then turns his gaze back to Evelyn.

— Um... I think I'll stay here
with Taylor too.

Evelyn:
— Well, then, have fun with the cats.

Evelyn again (inner voice):
— I guess that's okay...

Evelyn enters the examination room. The vet greets her with a warm smile:

— Hello, how can I help you?

— Hello, we found this kitten on the street yesterday and would like to have it a check up.

— You say "we"? Who else is with you?

— I came here with my friends. They're there, taking care of the cats.

— *laughs* I see. Your friends must really love cats. Anyway, let's take a look at you, little one... Hm... ...

Vet:
— It was cold and rainy yesterday. She shouldn't have been out in the rain for too long, or she could have gotten sick. You got here just in time.

Evelyn:
— I'm so glad we were able to save her before it was too late.

As the vet examines the little kitty's fur, tears fall from his eyes onto the little kitty's fur. Evelyn asks curiously:

— Uhm, is there a problem?

Vet:
— No, no, the cat just reminded me of something... Two years ago, I had a cat. My nephew loved to play with him. On workdays, I would always leave my cat with my nephew's family. One day, my cat passed away. After my cat's death, my nephew couldn't recover for a long time. No matter how hard we tried, he couldn't regain his old cheerfulness. Months later, we found out he had cancer. Last week, he also passed away... Life took away the most precious treasures I had; first my cat... then my nephew... I was very hopeless, waiting for the days to pass without knowing what to do. But one day, I think a belief arose within me; we would surely meet again one day. And I always believed, always hoped; maybe one day we’ll meet again, maybe one day I’ll see both of them again. Whenever I felt alone and trapped, I’d hold on tightly, always remembering our beautiful memories. Because I had no other choice... Even though I know this, it still hurts... When I touched your cat, my cat came to mind. Her fur was silky and soft, just like my cat’s... I hope I can meet them again.. in heaven...

— Of course!... says Evelyn.

Vet:
raises his head Huh?..

— Of course you will! Of course you will be reunited with them one day! Keep believing, because I'll always support you! Never lose your faith! Because it will surely guide you. You will feel better, I am sure of it!... Evelyn expresses her support for the vet.
The vet is a little surprised, but thanks Evelyn for her support.

— Thank you, it's good to hear that after so long...

After these events, the vet becomes serious:
— Anyway, where were we? Ah, we were looking at her fur, right?
examines the kitten's fur and skin in detail

After a while:
— Yes, your fur is also very healthy.
Now we will check for internal and external parasites– Wait, I've seen this symbol before... Heeey, sweetie! This is your first visit here after a long time.

Evelyn:
— A symbol on her face? I never noticed.

Vet:
— Just a moment, please...
The vet takes off his plastic gloves, fetches the little kitty's medical records from another location and comes back.

— All right, hm... Little kitty... 1 year old, which is 15 in human years.. and a "British Longhair". Last seen 4 months ago.
Evelyn is happy that the kitten has been found, but also feels a little sad:
— So does that mean she had an owner before?

Vet:
— Yes. The previous owner was an elderly woman. She lived alone with several cats. Since the day she found him on the street and brought him to the clinic, she had made sure he received all his vaccinations and supplements. Unfortunately, she passed away due to her illness. After her death, there was no one to take care of the cat, so this little creature ended up on the streets. The cat would occasionally visit her old owner's grave, stand by the headstone, lie on it, and sometimes even sleep on the grave. Every time I passed by the cemetery, I would see it.

Evelyn:
— Oh, really? I never would have guessed. How loyal she was... she said, gently petting little kitty's head.

Vet:
— And now look, she's come all the way here today. It's good that she hasn't been too long since her last vaccinations, so we won't have to start over. After the vaccinations, I'll give you a vaccination card, and you can track her vaccinations and treatments from here. We'll do stool, urine, and blood tests, and then we're done.

Another two hours pass.

Vet:
— Yes, the check up is complete. Our cat is generally healthy, but her teeth need to be brushed regularly every day. Don't brush them with regular human toothpaste; only use toothpaste made specifically for cats, otherwise she could be poisoned. ...

The vet informs Evelyn of the kitten's check up results and what needs to be done. Finally, Evelyn picks up the kitten.
— ...Have a good day.

— Thanks, you too...

Evelyn leaves the room and joins her friends. Taylor are petting a fluffy cat, while Paul is playing with another cat with a toy in his hand. Evelyn:

— We're done, let's get going.

— Are we leaving? But I was having so much fun, says Taylor, a little sad.

Evelyn:
— Come on, you've been playing with the cats for hours, isn't that enough?

Paul:
— I agree, it's better to go home now, we're just as tired as Evelyn.

Taylor:
— Actually, you might be right. *yawns* I was getting a little tired myself... Let's go.

The three of them leave the vet clinic. Before heading home, Evelyn makes a suggestion:

— Hey, um, should we stop by the pet shop one last time before going home? That way we can get the little kitty's supplies faster.

— Good idea, but aren't you tired? After all, you had to wait a long time during the check up says Paul.

— Yes, I'm tired too, but I thought it would be better to get what we need now answers Evelyn.

— There's one over there, says Taylor.

Paul:
— Then let's go!

When they enter the pet shop, the cashier greets them with a smile and says, "Hello." Everyone scattered to different corners of the store. Paul was looking at the shelves in front of him, searching for a comb to brush the little kitty’s fur, when he noticed little kitty touching a comb hanging on a small shelf with its paw. Paul crouched down with his shopping basket and said:

— Hm, do you want me to get that?
Kitten (inner voice):
— Wait, he's asking me.. Yes, yes, I want that one!

*little kitty meows*

Paul is a little surprised, thinks to himself:
— (inner voice) I guess that's the way to explain herself...

Then:
— I understand... Well, if you want it, then we'll take it, he says, picking up the comb the kitten touched from the shelf and continuing with their shopping. (...)

At the end of the shopping trip, they pay and leave. On their way home, they talk about what happened that day. Paul notices a slight smile on Evelyn's face and says to her:

— Hey Evelyn, you seem more distracted and happy than usual today. Did something special happen?

Evelyn:
— Hm? Oh, was it that obvious? Well, let’s say I learned something new today.

Paul is a bit surprised by the answer. As they walk along, they continue talking about the same topics.

They return home tired but happy. When they get home:

Taylor:
— We're finally home! Aah, I'm so tired.

Little kitty yawns too. :)

Evelyn:
— Yes, we've been through a lot today, we deserved a rest.

Paul:
— Then I'll put the things away.

Taylor:
— What?! We walked all that way and you're not tired at all?

Paul:
— I don't know about you, but I'm not that tired.

Taylor:
— Wow! You're so resilient. Sometimes I wish I could be like you. Anyway, I'm going to rest for a bit.

Evelyn:
— I'm going to my room.

Paul:
— Okay.

Paul starts immediately putting away the things they bought. When Paul is in the bathroom putting away the little kitty's remaining belongings, the kitten slips through the bathroom door and rubs against Paul's leg, as if to greet him. Paul notices the cat.

— Hey little one, are you awake already?

He crouches down and pets the little kitty's head. Evelyn arrives and opens the bathroom door:

— Hey Paul, what are you doing? Are you done?

— It's almost done. I just need to put a few more things in place.

— We're making dinner. Will you join us, Evelyn adds.

— Sure, I'll be right there.

— Okay, Evelyn says, heading to the kitchen.

A short time later:

— All right, that’s the last one. Alright, little one, let’s go help them.

Paul and little kitty come out of the bathroom. As they head to the kitchen, Chapter 2 ends...
